Sometimes there are moments where you want to take a photo right away. Fortunately, the Moto G4 offers some shortcuts to quickly open the camera app. The first shortcut is to “Twist for Quick Capture.” You can activate this feature by opening the Moto app and selecting Actions > Twist for Quick Capture. If you set up this shortcut, then you can quickly open up the camera app by twisting your wrist twice.

You can also set up a shortcut for quickly opening the camera by tapping on the power button twice. You will need to activate this feature by going to Settings > Display. Then you have to toggle the Press power button twice for camera button to on. This feature works even if the device is locked.

6.) Pick Up The Phone To Make It Stop Ringing

Sometimes you might be in a situation where you want to quickly switch your incoming calls from ringing to vibrate mode. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus has an option to automatically turn off the ringer if you lift the phone.

This feature is controlled by opening the Moto app and selecting Actions > Pick up to stop ringing. This could come in handy if you are in church or a fancy restaurant and your phone accidentally rings.

7.) Flip The Phone To Activate Do Not Disturb

Aside from being able to control the Do not disturb feature based on the timings you schedule (tip #3), you can also activate the feature by setting up an action through the Moto app. The shortcut action Motorola added to control Do not disturb in the G4 is turning the phone face down. You can set up this feature by opening the Moto app and selecting Actions > Flip for Do not disturb. And when you turn the device screen side up, Do not disturb will be turned off so you will start hearing your notifications and phone calls again.

8.) Take Photos By Tapping Anywhere

When you are holding your phone up to take a selfie, sometimes it can be a challenge to tap on the shutter button on the screen at the same time. Fortunately, the Moto G4 and G4 Plus allows users to tap anywhere to take a photo. You can activate this feature by swiping left to right while the camera app is open. Then tap on Shutter type > Tap anywhere.

9.) Turn On The Flashlight With A Karate Chop Motion

One of the biggest conveniences with owning a smartphone is having a flashlight in your pocket whenever you need it. And Motorola has added a creative way to turn on the flashlight. You can quickly activate the flashlight by opening the Moto app and selecting Actions > Double karate chop for torch. This means your flashlight will turn on if you karate chop your hand a couple of times while holding your phone. That is one of my favorite features in the G4! You will also notice a toggle for the flashlight in the notification shade.

'Ok Google' is one of the most convenient Android features because you can use it to perform hands free tasks such as calling contacts and searching the Internet. Usually, this feature only works when you are on the Home screen. Fortunately the 'Ok Google' can be setup so that it works anytime on the G4 besides the Home screen. You can adjust that option by going to Settings > Google > Search & Now > Voice > 'Ok Google' > From any screen.
